CETT was created in 2012 as a joint venture between the U of A, The Crossing Company, and The City of Edmonton to integrate the knowledge of experts from the public and private sectors with academia.
In 2013, CETT's mandate expanded to include one of Canada's premier
telecommunications companies, Telus, who joined other industry partners in guiding CETT's directive and increasing the breadth and impact of the group's research.
The unique approach of bringing academia and industry together is based on the understanding that by working collectively, we can:
- Zero in on today’s trenchless construction challenges.
- Resource research and innovation.
- Offer a distinct education experience.
Our industry partners are not only experts in the field of trenchless construction, they are also visionaries. Each partner has pushed the boundaries of technology and technique to achieve unmatched levels of excellence. Parallel to the experience and expertise of our industry partners, CETT’s academic partners are recognized for their research prowess and are drawn from multiple engineering disciplines from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Alberta to offer specialized knowledge in the areas of geotechnical and construction engineering.
